According to the Center for Migration Studies (Moscow), by October 2009, the number of people wishing to emigrate from the country reached 5%. 50% of people leaving for permanent residence - this is ethnic Russian. Thus, from 1989 to 2008 in Russia for permanent residence moved about 6 million people, about 80% of them - the ethnic Russian republics of the former USSR.
